Surf's up at Moonlight Beach

The grown up kids went on the Shipwreck Rapids ride while Bebe and Gramps played with Calder. We knew were were going to get soaked so Tar and I covered ourselves in garbage sacks and looked like hermits ( if you look close I'm the white sack in the pic) he boys were completely embarrassed to be seen with us but we didn't care and were trilled to stay somewhat dry, especially when Sky and Mikey got covered head to toe within the first 30seconds. Brady laughed so hard he couldn't breathe watching Sky and Mikey get drenched.



In Calder's words, BEACH, SUNSHINE...wahoooooo!

Why oh why don't we live near a beach??? Look at this blissful smile, we were all thinking "this is THE PLACE for us!"

Coronado was the best beach day we had. We walked the streets and Mikey found his burrito heaven (he had been craving this hole in the wall since the last time we were there 3 years ago), while Calder and I found a candy shop lined with everything we love... sugar.

We were fully entertained at the beach playground. Calder's not the only one who gets to play, we all joined in the fun. My mom, Brady and Tara and I played on the spring dolphins and if we threw our weight just right we'd fly back and forth... so much it threw us off and we laughed so hard we couldn't get back up.



Surfing in Leucadia and getting burried in sand... again, why don't we live on the beach???


For the grand finale: Mikey had a run-in with a 8 foot long sting ray while catching a 20 foot wave....it was unbelivable!?! Mikey was right on top of this monster wave right on the curl and out of no where jumped a massive string ray, who stabbed Mikey in his ankle.

Well that's not exactly how it went, but that's our story.....truth is.....yep.....the string ray really did get him and YES, it was among the worse throbbing pain he has ever felt. We felt really official when the life guard got wind of the incident from the other surfers and had to come over and check Mikey out. Making sure the barb was no longer in his foot, and filling out some paperwork all about what happened.
