Our 5 Favorite Things About the Past Month

#1 - Calder is Sleeping Through the Night

Last Sunday morning we woke up and realized that we couldn't take waking up every 2-3 hours during the night anymore.  We had read a lot about the subject of babies sleeping through the night, but dedicated a good portion of Sunday looking further into the details.  We finally figured that we were going to have to instigate a very clear, structured bedtime routine...and then just let Calder figure out how to fall asleep on his own.  We knew this would bring nights and nights of endless crying.  The first night he cried for an hour and fifteen minuts; the 2nd night he cried for 30 minutes; the 3rd night, 15 minuts; the 4th night, 8 minutes; the 5th night, 5 minutes; the 6th night only a few; and last night...no protest, no crying, nothing.  He has consistenly slept for 11 hours the past 3 or 4 nights.
Oh how nice it is to get a good nights sleep!

#2 - New Bathroom Downstairs

We tore our bathroom apart last spring under the impression that we would quickly be re-modeling it.  9 months later...nothing.  Still torn apart and unusable.  We finally couldn't take it anymore, and called Carlos (a guy that everyone in our ward uses for projects) to get a quote.  His quote was incredibly reasonable, and we started the project as soon as we got back from the Caribbean.  Here are some during and afters:

It couldn't have turned out better.
The basement is by far the most comfortable place in our house...and now it is complete.  No more running upstairs to go to the bathroom.  We can hang out downstairs and just enjoy.

#3 - Mikey's New Car

Although it was hard for Mikey to say goodbye to the Subaru (he's been driving some variation of a Subaru for 11 years now), it hasn't been hard for him to love our new car.  Nothing glamorous, but this little black Mazda 3 is fun to drive!

#4 - Calder's 2 New Teeth

The Little Dude is growing up...which is good and bad.  Ashly tells him to stay little every day.

#5 - A Working Furnace

When the first cold snap came last fall, our furnace stopped working.  We paid some guy $95 to come out and look at it and clean a few parts.  Well, the furnace has been a little moody for the past 3 -4 weeks, and we refused to dish out another hundred plus bucks.  We figured out that the problem was the simple little flame sensor.

We had to hunt around a little for the $20 part, but the furnace has worked flawlessly for almost 2 weeks now.

those are 5 truly amazing things--especially sleeping through the night! i know i'm going to have to bite the bullet and let the crying begin at some point--just not quite ready. :) plan on spring activities galore once it warms up--and i love the 6 month pictures. what a doll! loves!

Way to go Calder! The bathroom looks amazing. Nice work.

Calder's pics are too cute. The black and white one of him laying down is so cute. I see a ton of your Dad in him too.

Ash, we would really love to do a walk too. I feels like we have been sick for months now...so we've been hibernating. Now the girls have ear infections. Once they get through that let's REALLY play soon. Love you!

ok so this is seriously weird for me to ask, I just happened upon your blog and was wondering if you could email Carlos's number, the guy who did your bathroom? I know I am a stranger sorry, but I love your bathroom.
